The most common question is..

“I’m newly graduated and would like to move to Scandinavia, but the expenses involved with the relocation seems beyond my reach. What should I do?”

While the salaries are high in Scandinavia, so are the expenses. When relocating here, you need to factor in housing deposit (3x monthly rent), possibly furniture moving from your country of origin or a new set of furniture and household items.

Very few employers are open to negotiating a relocation bonus, so instead we have allied with a bank to help you obtain a short-term loan on favorable terms, if you need it. Below you’ll find an example, which clearly shows the economic differences between working in tech in Eastern Europe versus in Denmark. In other words, by accepting a high-paid position in Scandinavia, you would be able to pay back a relocation-loan within three months, while still having enough excess income to live comfortably in Scandinavia.

The second most common question is..

“I’ve read about the high tax rates in Scandinavia. Is it even worth relocating?”

Scandinavian salaries are usually more than four times higher than in Eastern Europe and the work/life balance is better. Even if it was the same workload, your take-home income is more than tripled when paying 45% tax of 50.000 DKK, than if you’re paying 18% of 7.000 PLN, which are the average tech salaries in Poland and Denmark, respectively. Also, when living in Scandinavia, many expenses such as doctors visits are free and paid by the tax-payers.
